Lately, Ive been talking with some friends about delving into the world of Boudoir photography. I knew I could DO it, and pull it off (no pun intended), but I was worried about the obvious me being a guy thing. Ya know, the potential creep factor. At least from the girls perspective.. assuming Im a stranger and if i added this to one of my services, in most cases I would be. Really though, Boudoir photographer cant be that different from wedding photography … right?
So, I decided to give it a trial go and set something up, not only to judge my ability to shoot a relative stranger in an area Ive not pre scouted, but also to make her feel comfortable and have her, dare I say, have fun? Yes, I dare.
With a bit of luck, Kristine came along wanting something similar done. She was in town for work from Cali-forn-i-a for a few days, and was more than willing to let me “try” and see what I could come up with. Of course she was awesome, and very very easy to work with. We used her hotel room in downtown Norfolk, which was tiny…but made all the better cause I had to think about how to make it work.
I used mostly my 50L, as I always do and used some strobes but mostly it was just natural light. Her, me…and a camera….oh and a little Jack Johnson. In the end, I loved doing it and look forward to some more sessions like it…so if youre reading this, and want some boudoir work done…please send me a email:)
Here are a few images of the day… there are about 60 total, but here are just a sample. Thanks again Kristine!
